[The start of school means the start of regular afterschool practices again, and the start of seeing people around Altaciere again. Some are easier to spot than others. Datekou's ace should be the easiest to spot, and Daichi sees him at school, but then... not practice. And not around the sports center very much, either.
That's weird.
It's not exactly hard to find out where the huge, quiet volleyball player lives, so Daichi ducks out of practice early--wouldn't want to interrupt a family dinner or anything--and ends up on the porch of 1435.
Knock knock.]

[Because the Orchid & Lotus keeps their staff so small, it's rare for there to be more than one person working at once, but Izumida doesn't considering it work so he tends to come by more often than he's scheduled. When he's here and not working (which is... always, he's really only helping out), he's in the greenhouse, and today is no exception.
He's also found, after blurting out his passion for bonsai to a clerk at the grocery store and spending ten minutes rhapsodizing about takoyaki's appeal to Yukihina-san's dragon (who seemed to care about as much as Yukihina-san would), that he's probably not fit to be around people right now. He didn't think the penalty would hit him this hard but he's practically overcome by the urge to talk. And talk. And talk.
At least it's good for the plants. Nobody else is listening, right?]
I almost wasn't going to go to Hakogaku, you know. My brother went there and he ended up being very successful, even if he wasn't a cyclist but then again he's never really been much of an athlete... but I didn't want to follow behind him if I could help it. Then it turned out Yuki was going there and I couldn't say no. I miss him a lot. It's hard here.

[Huh...? Isn't this....
Oh shi-!]
sorry!! wrong number
[He leaves it at that for a few long seconds, just sort of staring at the name he doesn't recognize at all, before it dawns on him that the first part of the reply he got back was 'they look delicious'. Is... is this anonymous person going to be sour if he retracts the offer? Will someone he'sprobably never met hold a grudge against him? Noooo....]
i have a lot of them
so you can still take one if you want
[Both halves of the message are sent at the same time, but it takes him an absurdly long amount of time to type the second part out and send it. Awesome.]

[Daichi's going to interpret that nod as a signal that things are fine, so that's not why he's been absent. It's a good start, anyway. Daichi's hands go to his hips and he tilts his head. His voice is kind when he speaks; Aone's been on his own here for a really long time, and that's brutally unfair.]
Don't apologize. I know you're the only member of Datekou here and that's got to be hard, but I would've thought Hinata would've told you, you're always welcome at our practices.
[And, a little more provocatively.] You wouldn't want to have Moniwa-san get here and see you haven't been going to practice, would you?
[When in doubt, invoke the absent captain.]

[A pink cat has infiltrated Aone's house somehow. Maybe it's scratching at the front door, chasing its tail in circles, hissing at any other pokemon, or leaping between high places and knocking things over like skittles.
Either way, enjoy this tiny pink terror, Aone. Its owner is on his way.]

[Skitty is having a ball, dodging Aone's grasp and running between his legs. But the person giving chase isn't too bad either, only narrowly missing its tail by a hair.
Unfortunately it quickly zips away into a corner, seemingly boxing itself between the couch and its pursuer. Just as the pokemon appears cornered by this towering wall of a person- the doorbell rings.]

[Izumida goes silent for a moment because he really did think this nonstop stream of consciousness talking was just between him and the hydrangeas, but it's only for a moment. Despite his own embarrassment, the need to keep talking is compulsive.]
Well, I do have teammates here so it's not as bad as it could be but I've never been especially close to Toudou-san or to Manami so I feel alone here sometimes, and my family is not always very helpful in that regard either. Yukihina-san is downright mean! He's a bully and I don't think he should be looking after anyone, let alone me and a young girl like Hiyori-san. She's much more delicate and impressionable than she looks and I don't think he appreciates that.
